Turning a New Page: Why Page & Pause Studios Joined SCBWI

When you build something from the heart, there comes a moment when passion meets purpose — and you decide to go deeper.

That’s where Page & Pause Studios finds itself today.

We’re proud to share that Page & Pause Studios has officially joined the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). This isn’t just a membership for us, it’s a meaningful step in our journey as storytellers, illustrators, and world-builders for young readers.

From day one, Page & Pause has been about more than publishing books. We’ve been exploring how stories can travel across cultures, how art can open conversations, and how imagination can connect children everywhere. Many of our projects draw inspiration from Japan its warmth, traditions, humor, and quiet beauty — and we want to honor that influence with even greater care and intention.

Joining SCBWI helps us do exactly that.

Through this community, we’ll be learning from experienced creators, engaging with industry professionals, and sharpening both our storytelling and illustration craft. We see it as a way to raise the bar on everything we make not by changing who we are, but by becoming a stronger version of ourselves.

What does this mean for Page & Pause moving forward?

You can expect:
- Deeper, more layered storytelling
- Even more thoughtful visual design
- Stronger collaboration with artists and writers
- Continued celebration of cross-cultural stories especially those inspired by Japan
- And a growing commitment to creating books that feel meaningful, memorable, and magical for children

This isn’t a pivot. It’s a maturation.

We’re still playful. Still imaginative. Still building worlds where kids can laugh, wonder, and feel seen. But now, we’re doing it with an even clearer sense of craft, community, and connection.

Every great story has chapters.

This feels like an important new one for Page & Pause Studios and we’re excited to keep writing it with you.

Onward, with curiosity and creativity,

Steven Taylor
